Biography Sladkopevtsev Romana

Melodist novel – the author of hymns, called Kondakov and is still in use in the Orthodox Church (eg, "Today the Virgin gives birth Presuschestvennago", "my soul, my soul, vozstani"). In the Greek original hymns R. had a special poetic dimension, called tonic, which he considered to be a distributor. The Orthodox Church canonised R. canonized. German of Byzantine Studies, Krumbacher, who published a complete collection of hymns P., acknowledges that the poetic talent, enthusiasm, depth of feeling and elevated language, he surpasses all other Greek pesnopevtsev. He was a native of Syria, dyakonstvoval in Beirut, during the reign of Anastasia I (491 – 518) arrived in Constantinople, is enrolled in the clergy of the church of Our Lady and at the beginning, not giving to cause even ridicule. Once, after a fervent prayer, he saw the Virgin in a dream, which, according to legend, gave him a scroll and told him to swallow, waking up and feeling the inspiration, he sang "Today the Virgin", followed by other songs.
