Ondrusovsky Adrian (Andrew Zavalishin) (5/17/1552) – Reverend, a pupil of St. Alexander Svirsky, first came to him in the desert. Conversations with the holy hermit positioned Andrew renounce the world. Having tonsure with the name of Adrian, a new hermit, visiting Valaam, he chose the site for his cabin on the shore of Lake Ladoga. Here, the king Basil, the father of Ivan the Terrible, founded a monastery, on behalf of the hermit (in Korelski Ondrus – Andrei), nicknamed the Russian Karelians Ondrusovskoy. Going for the needs of the monastery in Moscow, the Rev. Adrian chosen Ivan the Terrible in the godfather of his daughter Anna (18 th August 1549). Coming back, probably with the royal gifts, was killed near the village of Obzhi, 20 versts from the monastery, robbers. His body was thrown into the swamp in which he was found incorrupt 17 May 1552.
