Hyacinth (Hyakintos) – son of the Spartan king Amyclae, a young man of extraordinary beauty, a favorite of Apollo and Zephyr (or Boreas). One day Apollo was teaching Mr. discus thrower, Zephyr, out of jealousy, Apollo sent a disc thrown at his head, G., and he died. From his blood Apollo made a flower. In honor of Apollo and G. coped in Amyclae, in Laconia, a three-day feast (Huakinthia), which existed even during the Roman Empire. According to another legend, the son of Pierre G. and muse Clio he was loved by Apollo and Famirisom, the Thracian singer.
