Grandma Ivan (Party aliases Nicholas, Bogdan, Nowicka, etc.) (03/01/1873 – 18/01/1906) – a professional revolutionary, a Bolshevik. Born in the village Ledenskom Totemsky county Vologda province to a peasant family.
In the 1887-1891 student locksmith in Kronstadt, in the summer of 1891 a mechanic on Semyannikov plant in St. Petersburg. In 1894, he was engaged in working Marxist circle led by Lenin.
In 1895, actively participated in the St. Petersburg League of Struggle for the liberation of the working class. " Conducted revolutionary work among the Semyannikov, Alexandrov and glass factory, organized workers' groups and libraries. In January 1896 arrest in the case of the Union of Struggle and deported in February 1897 in Yekaterinoslav.
In December 1897 Ekaterinoslav one of the organizers of the Union of the struggle for the liberation of the working class. In October 1898 created a committee Ekaterinoslav RSDLP in 1900 organized an illegal newspaper "Southern worker. Grandma was an agent of Lenin's "Iskra" and its active correspondent.
In 1900-1901 conducted revolutionary work in Moscow, Smolensk, Polotsk, Orekhovo-Zuev, Ivanovo-Voznesensk etc.
In 1902 he escaped from prison Ekaterinoslav and went to London. In October 1902 he returned to Russia. As a member of the Petersburg Committee, led the struggle against the "economists" and Zubatovists, defended the position of Lenin's "Iskra". In 1903 he was arrested and sent to 5 years in Verkhoyansk (Eastern Siberia).
Granted an amnesty in 1905, participated actively in the Revolution 1905-1907. Was a member of the Irkutsk and Chita committees RSDRP, collaborated in the Bolshevik newspaper Zabaikalsky worker. However, VK Kurnatovsky and AA-Valyuzhanichem Kosciuszko led an armed uprising in Chita.
In January 1906, while transporting from Chita Irkutsk weapon for the workers, was captured with five friends at the station Slyudyanka Trans-Baikal railway punitive expedition under General Meller Zakomelsky and 18 January 1906 at the station Mysova summarily executed
In the obituary devoted Babushkin, Lenin called him a folk hero, the pride of Bolshevik Party. In the name of Grandma called the former PM Mysovskikh Buryat ASSR.
