Eurydice (Eurudikh) – one of the Dryads, wife of the mythical Thracian singer Orpheus. When E. died, stung like a snake, Orpheus descended into Hell and his singing so touched Persephone, that she allowed him to again take away IE on the ground, provided, however, on condition that he not look back until they go. Orpheus looked back, and EA has remained in the realm of shadows. This scene is depicted in several ancient reliefs.
