Adoratsky Nicholas (09.15.1849 – 29.10.1896) – bishop of Orenburg and Ural. Obituary in Orenburg, died Oct. 29, Bishop of Orenburg and Ural Nicholas, one of the great hierarchs of the Russian Church. The late, in the world, Peter S. Adoratsky, son of a priest, was born in 1849 in Kazan, Kazan was brought up in the seminary and at the Kazan Theological Academy, where he completed the course in 1874 with a degree in Theology.
Soon after release from the Academy, he entered the Psalmist to the Vienna Embassy Church, where, and stayed from December 1874 to June 1880 tonsure with the name Nicholas, departed since 1882 was appointed a member of the Orthodox Beijing mission, and on his return from China, in the dignity of priesthood was superintendent of Kherson Theological School (1886 – 1887) and in the dignity of Archimandrite – Rector of the Stavropol Seminary (1887 – 1890).
Then, after ordination to the episcopal dignity (1 March 1890), he had to serve the Orthodox Church to the rank of bishop and vicar Novomirgorod Kherson diocese until June 8, 1891, when he was appointed Bishop of Alaska and Aleutian. But the sickness is not departing for America, departed soon got a job as bishop of Balta (September 7, the same year), and then was transferred to the episcopal chair of Orenburg (from 22 October 1895), where he stayed until the day of death.
Late Bishop Nikolai, except for articles published in "Orthodox Review", "Orthodox parties," "The Wanderer" and other spiritual journals, belonged to the dissertation on the degree of Master of Divinity, under the title: "The Orthodox Mission in China after 200 years of its existence" (Kazan , 1887, 2 vol.).
