Europe (Eurwph) – Homer (Iliad XIV, 321), daughter of dates, on an ordinary version of the myth – the daughter of the Phoenician king Agenor, sister of Cadmus. Zeus was the EP, who played with friends on the beach, in the form of a white bull, abducted her, took on the a-Crete, which was combined with her, taking the form of the beautiful young man. From this union were born Minos, Radamanf and (for the later legend) Sarpedon.
Subsequently, E. married Asterion the king of Crete, which, dying childless, left the power over the island of E. sons of Zeus. The myth about EA certainly is followed by Eastern Zoomorphism like akin with tales of Cadmus, and the Minotaur. In Crete, E. worshiped in Thebes as the native deity. Herodotus rationalizes tale of IE and considers it a Phoenician princess who was abducted by Cretan merchants.
