Biography Attis

Attis – native in Phrygia; related Adonis deity. As preserved by later authors to legend, Attis came from the sky god and mother earth, passing a series of miraculous transformations – a hermaphrodite and the almond tree, from which his daughter gave birth last spring.

Usually told that the mother of the gods (Tsibela, Dindima, Agdistis) loved it and out of jealousy doomed by madness, after which he castrated himself, or, being already Tsibely lover, he was castrated and killed others. By Arnobiyu and Cepviyu, it happened under a pine tree, which, according to Ovid, flew his spirit. Said first, from the blood of AA rose violet.

At festivals, in Asia Minor, mourned the death of Alexander, under normal orgies, and then solemnly celebrated its resurrection. This symbol is a pine, decorated with violets, the emblem of nature coming alive again.
